Job Description - Arabic Peer Group Leader

TITLE: Arabic Peer Group Leader - Subcontractor 


TASK SUPERVISOR: RISG Program Coordinator 


DEPARTMENT: Refugee and Immigrant Services (RISG) 


 


HOURS: 5 hours per week 


 


QUALIFICATIONS  


Must be fluent in Arabic. Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to work under deadlines; ability to work as a leader and as part of a team; willingness to learn new skills and apply them quickly; experience preferably in refugee and immigrant social services, sensitive to cultural differences of clients and staff from diverse background; functional vehicle preferred. All applicants will be subject to child abuse, criminal background, and FBI screening to be cleared to work.  


 


POSITION DESCRIPTION 


The Refugee & Immigrant Support Groups (RISG) program is for individuals experiencing barriers to their transition to life in the U.S. RISG group leaders will plan and conduct weekly group meetings for the Arabic community in Allegheny County, held in the group members’ and leader’s primary language, held virtually and in person. Group meetings will be 75% discussion-based resource and information sharing, and 25% socialization. The group leader will work with the program coordinator to plan and prepare meetings and share paperwork and feedback with the program coordinator. The group leaders will also maintain regular communication with group members and program coordinator and submit paperwork monthly. 


 


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 


Preparation: Approximately 50% of time will be spent preparing for group meetings- preparing discussion topics and socialization activities. 


 


Group Meeting: Approximately 30% of time will be spent in weekly group meetings. 


 


Communication and Outreach: Appx. 10% of time will be spent communicating with group members, sharing resources and logistic information, recruiting new members, and communicating with the program coordinator. 


 


Paperwork: Appx. 10% of time will be spent completing monthly paperwork, including attendance sheets, invoices, and meeting overviews.
