As an Archaeologist, you will work on a variety of projects in the Southeast and throughout the United States. Your primary focus will be contributing to cultural resources work in Georgia and other Southeastern states, primarily on transportation, energy, and water resource projects. In addition, you will provide desktop and field-based cultural resources support for planning, engineering, and construction services to government, military, and commercial clients in various locations. The Archaeologist career path provides the opportunity to work on projects that require compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
As an Archaeologist, you will serve as a team member working with historians, scientists, engineers, project managers, and other project staff across business sectors and practices in the company. You will conduct archival research, background record reviews, archaeological fieldwork (Phases I-III), analyze project impacts as part of Section 106 and other regulations, contribute to agency consultation, and monitor during projects. You will analyze and interpret data; write cultural resources technical reports; contribute to archaeological treatment plans and agreement documents; and evaluate eligibility of resources for listing in the NRHP and state registers. You will also provide support to, and work with, senior-level cultural resources staff on a variety of projects and support clients during agency and tribal consultation.

Here’s what you’ll need :


Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology


Minimum of 1 year of professional archaeological fieldwork experience


Must be capable of walking for long periods of time over unfamiliar terrain, excavating shovel tests and test units, screening soil, and carrying field equipment


Must be willing and able to travel frequently as needed


Must be located in Georgia


Experience using GPS technology
Ideally, you will also have:


Registered Archaeologist designation


Experience working in the consulting environment and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and be responsive to both internal and external clients


Experience completing cultural resources studies for infrastructure, electrical transmission, US Army Corps of Engineers, transportation agencies, renewable energy, and/or remediation projects


Experience working with tribal communities
