Role Overview:
The Archaeology Specialist works closely with the Archaeology and Collections teams at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites (ISMHS) to acquire and manage scientifically collected archaeological material from throughout Indiana for the purpose of research and potential exhibition. Part of the position involves serving as the manager for our Curation Services Program, which receives archaeological materials generated by Cultural Resource Management (CRM) or other organizations’ projects. In this capacity, the Archaeology Specialist oversees collection management from initial curation agreements to final invoicing. The other priority of the position involves completing projects geared toward refining ISMHS archaeology collections. This involves in-depth collections review, culling, and inventorying based on ISMHS archaeology guidelines, and in-depth work with ISMHS database management system, ARGUS.
This is an on-site position that requires the establishment of a regular schedule between Monday through Friday and 30 hours per week.
Salary Statement:
This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $23.77.
