The Architectural Code Compliance Officer is responsible for administering architectural compliance and enforcement activities for the Architectural Control Committee (ACC). This role ensures adherence to approved plans, governing documents, and community standards by evaluating compliance issues, investigating violations, and coordinating enforcement actions.
The position requires the ability to exercise independent judgment, interpret regulations, and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, legal counsel, property owners, and contractors to support compliance and mitigate risk.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Administration
Oversee compliance activities for approved architectural projects and community standards.
Evaluate adherence to approved plans and governing documents.
Interpret architectural guidelines in collaboration with ACC leadership.
Conduct site inspections and compliance audits.
Recommend corrective actions to address non-compliance.
Violation Investigation & Resolution
Investigate reported violations and compliance issues.
Assess severity, history, and applicable standards.
Facilitate voluntary compliance through effective communication and guidance.
Recommend enforcement actions aligned with governing documents and policies.
Support resolution of complex or escalated cases.
Enforcement Coordination
Manage enforcement processes and compliance tracking.
Prepare violation notices, reports, and supporting documentation.
Coordinate with legal counsel and ACC leadership on enforcement matters.
Participate in hearings and compliance-related proceedings.
Ensure consistent application of enforcement procedures.
Administrative Support & Reporting
Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation.
Analyze trends and recommend process improvements.
Support reporting, policy development, and procedural consistency.
Provide professional communication and customer service to stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
3–5 years of experience in compliance, construction, regulatory administration, or a related field (preferred).
Knowledge of architectural standards, construction practices, and governing documents.
Ability to review architectural plans and interpret regulatory requirements.
Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Effective conflict resolution and customer service abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, and compliance/database systems.
Ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and confidentiality.
Physical Requirements
Conduct field inspections at construction sites and residential properties.
Walk, stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
Lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
Review detailed architectural and construction documents.
Communicate effectively in both office and field environments.
