Job Description - Area Asset & Reconditioning Manager (Seattle)

Depending on candidate location, this position will be based out of one of our stores in the Portland area while travelling between the others as needed.
The AreaAsset & Reconditioning Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of vehicle reconditioning across multiple dealerships within the automotive group for a the Seattle area. This includes managing the flow of inventory, ensuring the timely and cost-effective reconditioning of all vehicles, and maximizing the value of each asset by ensuring each unit is completely ready for sale. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills with a proven track record of success in a fast-paced automotive environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Oversee the flow of inventory through the reconditioning process, ensuring timely turn-around times and minimizing storage costs.
Monitor inventory levels and identify potential bottlenecks or delays in the internal process.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory flow and maximize efficiency throughout multiple dealerships.
Reconditioning Operations:
Manage and supervise the points of contact at the dealerships within the reconditioning and inventory teams in partnership with dealership and corporate leadership.
Establish and maintain quality control standards for all reconditioning work.
Manage relationships and process with external vendors for reconditioning services (e.g., paint shops, upholstery shops).
Develop and implement cost-effective reconditioning procedures and processes.
Asset Value Maximization:
Conduct thorough inspections of all incoming vehicles to assess condition and identify necessary repairs.
Determine the appropriate level of reconditioning for each vehicle based on Swickard standards.
Team Leadership:
Train, and develop a high-performing team that supports recon standards and process.
Motivate and inspire the team to achieve performance goals.
Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members.
Foster a positive and productive work environment.
Technology & Systems:
Implement and maintain effective inventory management systems (e.g., DMS, inventory tracking software).
Utilize data and analytics to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as reconditioning costs, cycle times, and vehicle turn-times.
Leverage technology to improve efficiency and streamline processes.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and environmental standards.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for all reconditioning work.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Automotive Technology, or a related field preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in automotive reconditioning or a related field.
Certifications: Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Skills:
Proven experience managing and supervising teams.
Strong understanding of automotive repair and maintenance procedures.
Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with automotive dealership management systems (DMS) preferred.
