Job Description - Area Operations Manager

Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking an Operations Manager for a top Ready Mix Concrete client.

This key leadership role requires a proven track record in strategic planning, process improvement, and business development to oversee the ready-mix concrete team and local operations. The Manager will lead daily operations across multiple concrete batching plants, drive continuous growth, and ensure operational excellence, quality, and compliance within the heavy construction industry sector.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of multiple concrete batching plants across the local service area.
  • Develop and implement strategic operational plans to drive growth and significantly improve overall performance.
  • Oversee and direct Plant Managers, Drivers, Maintenance, and Support Teams to ensure the delivery of reliable and high-quality solutions.
  • Monitor production schedules, manage dispatch operations, and accurately control inventory levels.
  • Manage the departmental budget, control costs, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to meet financial targets.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs while consistently maintaining quality standards.
  • Ensure stringent compliance with all industry regulations, including DOT requirements (implied), and internal company policies.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of ready mix concrete or heavy construction industry experience is required.
  • Proven experience in plant or area operations management is required.
  • Ready mix concrete exposure is a must.

Certifications/Licenses

  • DOT (Department of Transportation) experience is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success in strategic planning and implementation.
  • Expertise in process improvement methodologies and cost reduction strategies.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, financial performance, and departmental KPIs.
