Job Description - Area Sales Manager

Eaton\u2019s North American Sales division is currently seeking an Area Sales Manager to join its team. This role will be based at our City of Industry, CA office, and candidates must reside in this area to be considered. The role provides leadership of a sales team and management of a defined customer base and channels to achieve district results. Responsibilities include developing and implementing sales strategies, conducting market intelligence, and delivering customer presentations to grow sales and market share.\n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nThe role will be responsible for managing a customer base, sales resources, products and channels to market to achieve planned results for the district. This individual will provide leadership and development to a sales team consisting of sales professionals, sales reps and the distributor channel. It\u2019s where bold, bright professionals like you.\n\nWhen we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we \u2014 as individuals and as a company \u2014 are stronger. \n\n## In this role you will:\n\n\u2022 Manage the assigned customer base, to increase sales in the local marketplace \n\u2022 Provide application guidance and technical assistance to assigned customers \n\u2022 Develop and implement sales strategies designed to stress value-added upgrades while achieving maximum profit margin and ensuring optimum levels of customer satisfaction. \n\u2022 Promote, develop and maintain close working relationships with client representatives responsible for making purchasing decisions. Interact with relevant parties to manage and negotiate sales, and reach agreement on associated controversial issues. \n\u2022 Manage or conduct analyses of product trends and competitive pressures, current and emerging client needs, and purchasing and maintenance requirements. \n\u2022 Coordinate and make presentations to influence customers of the economic, technical and operational benefits and features of Eaton\u2019s products and solutions. \n\u2022 Provide or arrange for technical assistance to resolve customer problems and enhance relations \n\u2022 develop, grow, and maintain relationships with Eaton employees, engineers, contractors, and customers including Eaton Authorized Distributors \n\u2022 Participate in the preparation and presentation of bids and quotations to customers using company price and delivery guidelines, and use sound business judgment to enhance margins and establish a winning strategy\n\n\u2022 Support total quality efforts by providing timely and accurate information for order entry, elevating quality issues to attention of management. \n\u2022 Ensure that accurate information flows to and from customers. \n\u2022 Implement new product programs as needed. \n\u2022 Collect, analyze, and utilize market intelligence regarding competitive products, customer needs, preferences, and buying habits. \n\u2022 Provide necessary reports requested by management in a timely manner, \n\u2022 Maintain up-to-date project /orders opportunity tracking tool. \n\u2022 Work with management to improve on sales forecasting\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nRequired (Basic) Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree required from an accredited institution \n\u2022 Minimum seven (7) years electrical industry sales/marketing and/or engineering experience \n\u2022 Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver\u2019s license \n\u2022 No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of City of Industry, CA to be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation \n\u2022 Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering \n\u2022 Manager of people experience \n\u2022 10+ years of electrical industry sales experience \n\n## Skills:\n\n\u2022 Previous experience managing people and channels \n\u2022 Superior knowledge of sales techniques, customers, customer relations and employee development \n\u2022 Strong knowelge of managing products, product appliations and distribution channels \n\u2022 Significant sales presence such as that the candidate can clearly command in difficult sales situations \n\u2022 Experience in growing sales and market share, channel development and developing employee talent\n\nThe compensation range for this full-time position includes base pay and target sales performance incentive. This position has a target total compensation range of $192,400 - $282,100.\n\nBase salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\n\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
