Armed Security Officer

Citadel Security USA is seeking a dependable and professional Armed Security Officer to join our team in Glenwood Springs, CO. This full-time position supports security operations within a county detention facility by working alongside correctional staff to help maintain a safe, secure, and orderly environment.

This role requires sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm in fast-paced situations. Officers will assist with facility security, inmate movement, incident response, and transportation assignments while maintaining professionalism and adhering to established policies and procedures.

• Average Hours: Approximately 37 hours per week
• Overtime: Available based on operational needs

Schedule

• Thursday to Saturday | 5:45 PM - 6:00 AM
• Every Other Wednesday | 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

Facility Security

• Maintain a secure environment throughout the detention facility.
• Assist with monitoring housing areas, controlled access points, and secure spaces.
• Support correctional personnel by helping maintain order and enforcing established facility procedures.
• Observe daily operations and promptly report safety or security concerns.

Inmate Support & Transportation

• Assist with inmate movement within the facility as directed.
• Support inmate transportation assignments when required.
• Maintain awareness during inmate interactions while following all security protocols.
• Help ensure the safety of staff, inmates, and authorized visitors.

Incident Response

• Respond appropriately to disturbances, emergencies, or security-related incidents.
• Assist correctional officers during facility operations while following established procedures.
• Maintain professionalism during stressful or rapidly changing situations.
• Notify supervisors of significant incidents requiring immediate attention.

Documentation & Communication

• Complete detailed incident reports, activity logs, and required documentation.
• Record observations accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain clear communication with supervisors, correctional staff, and fellow officers.
• Follow all client policies, company procedures, and post orders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Personal firearms required.
• Must meet all applicable Colorado armed security requirements.
• Ability to legally carry a firearm while performing assigned duties.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent observation and decision-making abilities.
• Professional appearance and dependable attendance.
• Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous armed security experience.
• Experience working in correctional, detention, military, law enforcement, or public safety environments.
• Familiarity with inmate supervision, transportation procedures, or detention facility operations.
• Experience preparing incident reports and security documentation.
• Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.

Work Environment

• Secure detention facility environment.
• Regular interaction with correctional officers and detention personnel.
• May assist with inmate transportation outside the facility.
• Extended periods of standing, walking, and monitoring secure areas.
