Job Summary: The Bilingual Art Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality art instruction to students in both English and [Second Language]. This role involves creating a dynamic and engaging curriculum that fosters creativity and artistic expression while supporting bilingual education. The Bilingual Art Teacher will work closely with other teachers and staff to integrate art into the broader educational program and promote cultural awareness. This position is part of a Montessori dual language program and may include providing support in the classroom for reading, math, and/or project-based learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Duties:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive art curriculum that meets state and school standards.
• Teach art classes in both English and [Second Language], ensuring that all students can access the curriculum.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that inspire creativity and artistic expression.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their artistic development.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.

Curriculum Development:

• Create lesson plans that integrate art with other subjects and promote interdisciplinary learning.
• Incorporate cultural elements into the curriculum to enhance students' understanding of diverse artistic traditions.
• Stay current with best practices in art education and bilingual instruction.

Classroom Support:

• Provide support in the classroom for reading, math, and/or project-based learning as part of the Montessori dual language program.
• Collaborate with other teachers to integrate art into broader educational activities and projects.

Classroom Management:

• Establish and enforce classroom rules and procedures to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Manage classroom materials and supplies, ensuring they are used effectively and responsibly.
• Address student behavior issues promptly and fairly, following school policies.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to support the school's educational goals.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and classroom activities.
• Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Work Schedule:

• Hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, including one hour of after-school programming.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field is preferred
• Teaching certification in Art Education or the ability to obtain.
• Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Previous experience teaching art, preferably in a bilingual setting.
• Strong knowledge of art techniques, materials, and history.
• Creativity and a willingness to support teachers in integrating art in the classroom
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction.
