At Oakwood Creative Care’s Day Clubs, our mission is to enhance the quality of life and spark joy in older adults living with cognitive and physical challenges through expressive arts, fitness, history, storytelling, music, dance, and holistic wellness. Our services include nursing oversight, personal care assistance, medication support, nutrition counseling, support groups, and education—all designed to nurture dignity, creativity, and purpose in every member’s day.

Our Culture & Values
We exist to make a difference—and have fun doing it. At Oakwood, we believe in creating and sharing joy every day. Our leadership style is grounded in coaching, collaboration, and authenticity. We celebrate innovation, embrace creative risk-taking, and are united by our mission to reimagine aging through the power of connection and creativity.

Position Summary
The Art Teacher brings passion, creativity, and heart to the Day Club experience. Using their unique artistic talents—whether in acrylic painting, watercolor, oil pastels, mixed media, plaster, woodworking, boutique crafting, upcycling, or textiles—the Teaching Artist designs and facilitates interactive, hands-on workshops that inspire self-expression and connection.

By introducing members to new artistic techniques and trends, the Teaching Artist helps participants tap into their imagination, develop interpersonal skills, reduce depression, and build confidence and self-esteem. Each session is an opportunity to create, laugh, and belong—transforming the art studio into a space where creativity and community flourish.

  • Provide gentle guidance and encouragement to help members transition smoothly between classes and daily activities.

  • Support daily routines, including helping with meal and snack preparation and service, to ensure a comfortable and engaging environment for all.

  • Offer respectful assistance to members with personal care needs, including restroom support, always maintaining dignity, privacy, and compassion.
