City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh’s leading professional theater dedicated to new plays, seeks to hire an ARTISTIC PRODUCER. This full-time, exempt senior level position will be housed in the artistic department and will report to the theatre’s Artistic Director (Clare Drobot). A key position in the artistic department, the Artistic Producer will work closely with the Artistic Director, Managing Director, and Production Manager on season programming, line producing, creative team collaboration, new play development, and ensuring City Theatre’s broad engagement with Pittsburgh’s artistic community.
City Theatre’s artistic department is responsible for all artistic planning, programming, and producing at the theatre. This includes five subscription productions, the Young Playwrights Festival, the annual Momentum Festival of new work, resident companies, presented work, and more. The role will collaborate closely with the education and community engagement departments to ensure that all of City’s producing work is deeply connected to the company’s mission, vision, and values, and actively engaged with the broader Pittsburgh community.

This position will serve as a key partner to the Artistic Director and work to ensure a positive and productive environment for the development and production of contemporary theatre. The role is made for someone excited to embed themselves in the Pittsburgh artistic community and forge both local and national connections. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, engaged collaborator, and strategic thinker with a passion for bringing new work to life and producing theater rooted in the Pittsburgh community.
Reporting & Compensation:
The position reports directly to Artistic Director Clare Drobot. It is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary range of $52,000-$56,000, plus a competitive benefits package, including a 100% employer-covered health plan, optional vision, dental, and FSA plans, and paid vacation and holiday leave.
