Job Description - ASDOH - Assistant/Associate Professor Community Based & Student Research Faculty

Description

A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) is seeking a full-time exempt Community-Based & Student Research Faculty at the Assistant or Associate level on the Mesa, Arizona campus. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct teaching, patient care, scholarly, and service activities in support of the mission, goals, and objectives of the School and University, with primary responsibility for facilitating the students' clinical experience and clinical skills to demonstrate competency in patient-centered care that integrates biomedical, behavioral, and clinical sciences.
  • Promote an atmosphere of respect, collegiality, commitment to diversity and social justice, and a humanistic learning environment.
  • Conduct teaching, scholarship, service, and patient care in support of the mission and goals of ASDOH and ATSU.
  • Clinical supervision at the Juvenile Detention Center as part of the ICSP rotations for 3 days per week, and dental public health.
  • Participate in and seek leadership positions in committees, faculty governance, professional societies and associations, and community events (not required for adjunct faculty).
  • Support the Assistant Dean of Research 1 day per week with student research activities.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director CBDE on didactic dental public health and tele-dentistry curriculum, including teaching the necessary courses. The curriculum should complement, not duplicate, the existing public health curriculum provided by the College of Graduate Health Studies.
  • Directly supervise 4th-year dental students at the Juvenile Detention Center ICSP rotation site.
  • Supervise students during Teledentistry and other external sites as assigned.
  • Work with the Assistant Dean of Research to support and mentor research activities for students.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility.

Requirements

  • DMD/DDS and Licensure in the state of Arizona are Required.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, crisis management, and organizational skills, high emotional intelligence, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Must be able to be self-directed and take the initiative.
  • Must be highly skilled in dental public health; willing and able to act as a hands-on faculty instructor (e.g., clinic)
