Asphalt Laborer

Job Overview:

The Grasso Companies is looking for a motivated and reliable Asphalt Laborer to join our team. In this role, you will work alongside paving crews to assist with the preparation, installation, and finishing of asphalt surfaces for various construction projects. The ideal candidate is a team player with a strong work ethic and an interest in the paving industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of the job site, including clearing debris and preparing surfaces for asphalt application.


• Operate basic hand tools and machinery, such as shovels, rakes, and tampers, to spread and level asphalt materials.


• Assist with loading and unloading asphalt materials from trucks.


• Work with the paving crew to ensure that asphalt is properly compacted and finished to meet job specifications.


• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that tools and equipment are stored properly.


• Assist in the setup and maintenance of job site safety equipment, such as cones and barriers.


• Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.


• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed.


• Work closely with supervisors and other team members to ensure the timely and accurate completion of projects.


• Help in the application of hot mix asphalt on roads, parking lots, driveways, and other surfaces.


• Assist in the proper disposal of waste materials from the job site.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in asphalt paving is required.
  


• Comfortable with physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.


• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.


• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.


• Must be dependable and have a strong work ethic.


• Safety-conscious and committed to maintaining a safe work environment.


• Reliable transportation to and from the job site.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.


• Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and walking on uneven surfaces for long periods.


• Must be able to work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
