Asphalt Plant Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Asphalt Plant Superintendent to oversee the day-to-day operations of our asphalt production facility. This role involves managing the production process, ensuring quality standards, maintaining safety regulations, and optimizing plant efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of asphalt production, and the ability to manage and mentor a team of 4-6 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

• Production Management: Oversee the full operation of the asphalt plant, ensuring efficient and continuous production of high-quality asphalt.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of 4-6 direct reports, including operators, maintenance staff, and other personnel. Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce plant safety protocols and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
• Maintenance & Equipment Management: Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs to prevent downtime. Ensure that all plant equipment operates at peak efficiency and reliability.
• Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality control measures for the asphalt production process, ensuring that all products meet company and industry standards.
• Inventory & Supply Management: Manage raw materials inventory, including ordering and storing materials as necessary to meet production schedules.
• Budget & Cost Control: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the plant’s budget, identifying opportunities to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency.
• Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production, maintenance activities, and safety inspections. Prepare regular reports for upper management.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in asphalt plant operations, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong understanding of asphalt production processes, equipment, and quality control procedures.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience leading a small team of direct reports.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, effective decisions.
• Solid understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance, including OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software for reporting and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with plant automation systems and asphalt plant control software.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Certification in safety or environmental management.
