Position Summary
Sciton is seeking a hands-on Chassis Assembly Technician to support the assembly of sophisticated medical and aesthetic laser systems. This position is responsible for the mechanical and electromechanical assembly of equipment, including installing components, routing wiring and tubing, and building subassemblies according to engineering drawings, bills of materials, and established work instructions.
The ideal candidate has experience working with hand and power tools in a manufacturing environment and is comfortable performing detailed, precision assembly work. Experience assembling medical devices, optical equipment, laboratory equipment, or other complex electromechanical systems is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical and electromechanical assembly of laser and related equipment.
- Assemble chassis, frames, brackets, panels, mounts, and mechanical subassemblies.
- Install and secure electrical, optical, cooling, and mechanical components.
- Route and secure wires, cables, tubing, and harnesses according to specifications.
- Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and other assembly equipment.
- Read and follow engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and detailed work instructions.
- Perform torqueing and fastening operations to specified requirements.
- Inspect completed assemblies for workmanship, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
- Identify and communicate assembly issues, missing components, or quality concerns.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and other production personnel to resolve assembly issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.
- Perform additional manufacturing and assembly duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in mechanical, electromechanical, precision, or production assembly.
- Ability to use common hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and/or schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a manufacturing team.
- Good hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to perform repetitive assembly tasks while maintaining consistent quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience assembling medical devices, lasers, optical equipment, laboratory equipment, or other precision equipment.
- Experience with electromechanical assemblies.
- Experience with wiring, cable routing, tubing, or wire harnesses.
- Experience using torque tools and working to specified torque requirements.
- Experience working from BOMs and engineering drawings.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work with tools for extended periods.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to lift and move components and materials within the requirements of the position.
- Ability to perform detailed work requiring manual dexterity and visual attention.
Work Environment
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment and may involve working around mechanical, electrical, optical, and cooling systems. Employees are expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, safety, and product quality.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly rate for this position is $22-$27/hr, depending on experience, qualifications, and level. In addition to a competitive market-based salary, Sciton provides an opportunity to participate in equity/stock incentive programs, a profit-sharing bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package, including a 401(k) with matching.
