Asset Protection Specialist

Position Description:

Tecovas is passionate about offering an incredible customer experience for first-time boot buyers and Western enthusiasts alike! We’re looking for a Part-Time Asset Protection Specialist to play a key role in creating a safe, welcoming, and customer-focused store environment. You’ll provide a visible presence at store entrances and throughout the sales floor, helping to deter theft and fraud while ensuring the safety of both customers and team members. By engaging customers with a friendly and professional demeanor and maintaining strong situational awareness, you’ll support our commitment to an exceptional in-store experience. 

Responsibilities will include:

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

• Provides great Customer service by prominently greeting Customers, making eye contact, smiling, and answering questions in a friendly and courteous manner.


• Treats all Customers and Associates with respect.


• Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.

MAINTAINS SAFE & SECURE ENVIRONMENT 

• Understands that safety is the number one priority, practices safe behaviors in everything they do, and assists Store Leadership in maintaining a safe and secure environment for both Associates and Customers.


• Maintains a strong and visible presence at store entrances, exits, and throughout the sales floor—greeting customers with eye contact and a professional, approachable demeanor while wearing designated company-issued attire. Monitors for potential safety concerns and supports a secure environment.


• Removes clutter and ensures safe, clear egress to emergency exits.

MITIGATES FRAUD & THEFT

• Monitors entrances/exits as well as sales floor for potential theft by identifying suspicious behavior.


• Gathers theft indicators and uses internal or external intelligence to identify shortage trends.


• Effectively communicates with Store Leadership and Loss Prevention Leadership.


• Adheres to Company policy for external theft response.


• Executes all Company Best Practices and works efficiently by reducing unnecessary steps or repetitive tasks.

MINIMIZES OPERATIONAL SHORTAGE

• Partners closely with store leadership to ensure compliance with loss prevention protocols and assist in minimizing operational shortages.


• Increases store awareness of effective processes to minimize operational shortages. Trains and educates Associates on shortage reduction initiatives.


• Observes and validates proper checkout procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform essential job functions, including working with restricted equipment or during late-night shifts (typically 18 years or older). 


• Available to work 15-20 hours per week.


• Continually able to stand/walk for extended periods of time, and be able to reach overhead, bend, squat, and kneel as you organize and stock inventory.


• Ability to deliver excellent customer service.


• Able to lift up to 30lbs regularly.


• Must be able to reliably commute to and from the work location. 


• Must be available to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), evenings, and holidays as needed.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Competitive salary: $28-30/hour (commensurate with experience)

The base salary for this position is determined by market location and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, employees in this role are eligible to participate in our competitive bonus program, subject to program guidelines and eligibility requirements.
