Description

Summary:

The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for efficiently supervising the daily operations of his/her business unit in addition to assuming the responsibilities of the manager during his/her absence. Adhere to all Human Resource guidelines. The Assistant Branch Manager is also charged with training and motivating the staff to achieve branch and individual goals. Ensure the safety and security of employees, members, and data. Provide guidance to the staff by exhibiting excellent management and member service skills to members, coworkers and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assume the responsibilities of the Manager during his/her absence.
  2. Create and monitor performance plans for employee development through counseling, coaching, performance evaluations, training, motivation and discipline.
  3. Provide leadership and function as a working supervisor for teller and new account personnel.
  4. Evaluate member transactions, provide approvals, and overrides.
  5. Responsible for implementing company policies and procedures in relation to teller and new account operations. Remain current on all laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to loans, savings BSA and CIP and OFAC programs.
  6. Oversee training and develop tellers and new accounts personnel to maintain proper member relations. Address all member service issues.
  7. Responsible for teller maintenance of required cash limitations, minimal branch and teller cash differences as well as limited teller and new account procedural errors.
  8. Responsible for monthly alarm tests, audits and certifications to ensure minimal branch audit exceptions.
  9. Plan, organize and assign the daily workflow of the teller and new account area via lunch schedules, controlling absenteeism, pro-active problem resolution, etc.
  10. Establish weekly staff meetings and action items.
  11. Ensure compliance with all rules, regulations and processes pertaining to BSA and CIP programs.
  12. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a financial institution.
  3. Two years of experience working with savings and checking accounts with an emphasis in consumer lending.
  4. Experience with all human resource functions including: hiring, writing reviews, promotions, and recommendations for performance improvement actions plans and disciplinary actions up to and including termination.
  5. Register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS). Will be required to undergo a background check. Registration with the NMLS to be maintained on an annual basis.
  6. Must be eligible to become an individual endorsee under the business entity license of Wheelhouse Credit Union held with the California Department of Insurance. Will be required to complete an individual application for insurance and an affidavit of training and knowledge.
  7. Professional written and verbal communication skills including excellent grammar and telephone etiquette.
  8. Ability to handle people and/or situations with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
  9. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, on-line computer system, and 10 key adding machines.
  10. Knowledge and understanding of the mission and vision of the Credit Union. Strictly adhere to the Credit Union’s policy of confidentiality, security, professional conduct and dress.
  11. Excellent collaborative skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships are essential.
