Assistant Building Maintenance Technician

Active Learning Centers and Lehigh Valley Martial Arts is hiring a Part-Time Assistant Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep and improvement of our centers across the Lehigh Valley. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work, can manage projects independently, and takes pride in maintaining safe, welcoming spaces for children and staff.

In this role, you’ll handle a variety of small repair and improvement tasks — from painting and spackling, to hanging shelves and gates, fixing small items, and keeping our parking areas in good shape. You’ll travel between multiple locations, so reliability and a clean driving record are a must and reliable transportation. We’re looking for someone trustworthy, detail-oriented, and comfortable working around children in licensed childcare settings.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Painting and Spackling


• Drywall/plaster repair 


• Furniture assembly and relocation


• Mounting gates, bookshelves, and safety equipment


• Hanging shelves, whiteboards, and classroom materials


• Changing lights and/or fixtures


• Grounds maintenance 


• General facility upkeep and troubleshooting


• Maintain tools and equipment in clean, safe, working order

Must have the ability to:

• Perform heavy manual labor


• Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and inspect work sites


• Lift, carry, push, and pull materials of 50lbs or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.


• Work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels.


• Work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions.


• Independently organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments.


• Maintain records and files on work performed.


• Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing
  
  

Must be a licensed driver with a clean driving record. Be able to pass background checks and obtain clearances to work at a childcare facility.
