We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Chief Engineer to help maintain the beauty, safety, and functionality of our award-winning resort. This is a hands-on working leadership role. The Assistant Chief Engineer will actively perform maintenance and repair work alongside the engineering team while assisting in overseeing daily operations of resort facilities and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, kitchen equipment, painting, drywall, and landscaping.
In addition to supporting daily engineering operations, the Assistant Chief Engineer serves as the primary coordinator for resort safety and emergency procedures, helping ensure compliance, preparedness, employee training, and effective emergency response throughout the property.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on maintenance and repair work alongside engineering staff as part of daily operations.
- Serve as a resource for all departments regarding safety protocols, emergency procedures, and related questions.
- Assist in maintaining resort facilities, grounds, recreational areas, and building systems to Hacienda Del Sol standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of the property, identify maintenance needs, and communicate actionable items.
- Monitor maintenance work to ensure quality workmanship, accuracy, and timely completion.
- Maintain accurate logs, records, equipment inventories, and asset management systems.
- Develop and maintain emergency procedures and assist with employee safety and emergency response training.
- Maintain all emergency systems and ensure preparedness for incidents including fire, severe weather, bomb threats, and guest accidents.
- Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are current and available for all applicable hazardous materials.
- Assist in evaluating security measures and recommending best practices for safety and loss prevention.
- Recommend and help maintain appropriate inventories of parts, supplies, tools, and materials necessary for department operations.
- Ensure engineering tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and operational condition.
- Assist in managing departmental expenses, payroll, utilities, and operating budgets.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and safety standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and adherence to the company's Code of Conduct in all interactions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience required.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building systems required.
- Four-year degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent industry training and experience.
- Previous facility maintenance experience in a resort, hotel, or hospitality environment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to perform hands-on maintenance work, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, and climbing as required.
- Ability to work flexible hours as business needs require, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional extended shifts.
- Ability to work safely around wet or slippery surfaces, sharp tools, fumes, and electrical equipment.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment:
This position regularly works in both indoor and outdoor environments and may be exposed to extreme heat, cold, wind, dust, and noise. The role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to perform duties in a variety of conditions throughout the resort.
