GENERAL DESCRIPTION The essential function of the position within the organization is to coordinate with the chief operator in the daily operations of maintaining the plant and the equipment. PRIMARY DUTIES: This list represents the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required. Assumes the duties of the chief operator in his/her absence; delegates assigned tasks to subordinates. Maintains plant operation records and operators’ reports. Supervises and schedules equipment repairs and directs preventive maintenance program for plants. Schedules instrument repairs. Maintains all logging, calibration and discharge monitoring reports as required by LADEQ. Assists laboratory manager in analysis of samples required by LADEQ permit. Conducts lab duties in laboratory managers absence; sets up sampler and collects samples; coordinates with laboratory manager to ensure compliance with permits. Maintains the records of sample collection and analysis including DO, PH, and temperature daily recordings. collects and analyzes stormwater samples. SAFETY OF OTHERS: Safety of others refers to the responsibility for other people’s safety, either inherent in the job or to assure the safety of the general public. Requires considerable responsibility for the safety and health of others and/or continuous enforcement of the laws and standards of public health and safety.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Education requirements refer to job specific training and education required for entry into the position. Requires specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college in water and wastewater operations or management or closely related field.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Licenses, certifications, and registrations refer to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position. Requires a Class IV Wastewater, Class III Water certification, and a Commercial Driver’s License valid in the state of Louisiana.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position. Requires ten years in water plant operations or closely related experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs medium to heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 to 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS: Unavoidable hazards refer to unusual conditions in the work environment that may cause illness or injury. Involves routine and frequent exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals; Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors Traffic; Moving machinery.
