Job Description - Assistant Climbing Program Manager / Desk Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY


The Assistant Climbing Program Manager & Front Desk Supervisor is a dynamic leadership role responsible for supporting the Programs Manager in growing, running, and managing Movement's instructional programs and private events in their facility while also supervising front desk operations.


This person serves as one of the main points of contact for the climbing program, and as such must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, able to multitask, innovative, possess good time management skills, and be passionate about helping instructors and climbers achieve their expression of success. They must be able to lead with empathy and compassion to create a positive culture. The result will be to deliver high quality climbing programming that promotes transformative experiences for athletes.


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 


· Teach the full breadth of gateway and adult instructional programs at Movement (as needed) 


· Craft and share vision to other instructors, team members, and customers about programming 


· Ensure excellent customer service and delivery of instruction 


· Manage the climbing programs in their facility in partnership and with oversight of the Programs Manager and Gym Director, including but not limited to: 


o Partner with the team to strategize on gyms programming needs 


o Managing private lesson requests 


o Manage Group Program requests 


o Creating monthly program calendars with the goal of expanding and/or maximizing class enrollment and accessibility to our customer base 


o Providing new hire training with your gym trainers and ongoing mentorship to cultivate a team of skilled and passionate instructors and trainers who foster Movement's mission and values 


o Stays up-to-date on all policy and procedures surrounding the programming department


o Enforces availability expectations among other operational expectations for the facility


o Monitoring and quality control of courses


· Assist Programs Leadership with creating new curricula, instructor training tools, and other resources that will support continued growth of Movement programs. 


· Drive local (in-gym or out-of-gym) marketing initiatives to support enrollment in programs. Includes using templates to create flyers, tabling promotions, and partnering with regional marketing coordinator and director team on wider initiatives


 


Front Desk Supervision


· Supervise front desk operations during peak hours, ensuring excellent customer service. 


· Mentor and support front desk team members, providing training and feedback and fostering a positive and inclusive environment. 


· Communicate policy changes, upcoming events/updates, and business goals to the team. 


· Support retail operations, event planning, and community engagement initiatives. 


· Delegates facility upkeep and cleaning tasks to front desk team members. 


· Ensure safety and risk management procedures are followed by guests and staff. 


· Promote an inclusive and welcoming environment for all community members. 


· Respond to guest feedback and escalate concerns appropriately. 


· Other duties as assigned 


 


QUALIFICATIONS 



  • Ability to define a positive team culture 

  • Passion for developing instructors and athletes in a way that emphasizes fun and fosters a love of the sport and the climbing community 

  • Strong climbing and training background, and knowledge of climbing techniques  

  • Passionate about refining their own instructional style, and teaching others to do the same 

  • Self-motivated and organized 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership. 

  • Solid computer skills (web-based applications, Word, Excel, POS applications) 

  • Flexible schedule

  • Understands and embodies Movement’s Core Values

  • Completion of certifications including Safesport, First Aid, and CPR, and also the ability to pass a background check. 

  • Personal Training Certification or equivalent experience is an added plus, but not required 

  • Experience with working within provided budgets or meeting financial targets preferred 


 


 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 



  • This position is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position, with average weekly hours between 32-40 hours per week.

  • Regular weekly schedule will operate Tuesday-Saturday, flexibility based on operational needs throughout the year

  • Starting pay at $17.50/hour, flexibility available based on experience
