Job Description - Assistant Clinic Manager - OP/OK/OM

Description

Job Summary:

The Assistant Clinic Manager is responsible for the efficient daily operation of their clinic location (i.e. “floor”) and serves as a representative of the Clinic Managers in carrying out directives and policies. This role acts as a leader and coach to staff, liaison between staff and upper management, a resource to Providers, and an advocate for patient concerns. Key duties include supporting smooth clinic flow, managing staff and schedules, and assisting the Lead Technician with callouts and coordinating shift coverage. Regular travel to all Eyesight locations is required to support operations, align teams, and ensure consistency in standards and workflows.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Upholds the Eyesight mission and values in daily management and oversight of their respective clinic’s “floor” – ensuring patients are provided uncompromising care 
  • Works to ensure clinic flow, efficiency, tech distribution, accuracy of patient appointments, treatments and procedures  
  • Ensures duties allocation based on patient needs and volume 
  • Assists lead tech where needed with staff callouts, acts as the ultimate emergency backup 
  • Helps uphold set policies, SOP’s, and protocol to ensure safe and efficient patient care and treatments, in addition to regulatory compliance  
  • Responsible for maintaining supply inventory and operating within budget set by the management 
  • Collaborate with Clinical Managers on training, implementation and assessment of new equipment, as well as roll out of new diagnostics and medications  
  • Responsible for staff management through providing coaching, counseling and performance management including employee relation issues and upholding our Core Behavioral Values  
  • Address patient concerns in a timely, professional and courteous manner, including review of billing and coding as necessary; involves Clinic Managers when necessary 
  • Maintain a floor presence with the staff by being visible, doing side-by-sides, partaking in appointments and other office duties with the staff to provide on the spot coaching and feedback 
  • Carry out Practice wide initiatives and projects to improve patient care, efficiencies and cost control as deemed by Management and the Clinic Managers 
  • Responsible for equipment maintenance  

Minimum Requirements (education and experience):

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • 3 years of clinical experience in medical office setting 
  • 2 years of prior clinical experience in an Ophthalmic practice 

Preferred:  

  • 2 years of experience as Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe 
  • Lead Technician experience 
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification 
  • Experience in this capacity at EOS (to best understand this company, protocols and staff)

  • Noise level ranges from quiet to moderate depending on activity and location 
  • Possible exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, or cleaning agents in accordance with standard safety protocols 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods  
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate medical or office equipment 
  • Effective verbal and written communication; ability to hear and understand speech in person and by phone 
  • Visual acuity required for reading small print, computer screens, and performing clinical tasks 
  • Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 25 pounds 
  • Reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and other physical movements may be required
