Assistant Construction Superintendent - Roanoke, VA

Description

We are currently seeking an Assistant Superintendent to join our growing construction team. The role will support the construction of a multi-phase apartment community. The Assistant Superintendent will assist the Lead Superintendent and other RALC field staff with daily skilled and unskilled labor and general management of the construction site. The individual must excel in a team environment and communicate clearly with Lawson colleagues, design partners, and subcontractors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist the Lead Superintendent in the day-to-day management of subcontractors onsite.
2. Complete various skilled labor tasks associated with construction punch work and RALC site safety regulations.
3. Communicate daily with the RALC construction project team any issues that may arise during the construction process.
4. Schedule, receive, inspect, and organize deliveries of building materials.
5. Promote and maintain job site cleanliness and safety standards.
6. Be proactive in coordinating, implementing, and expediting the construction schedule.
7. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. General knowledge of building codes, inspections, and general construction process.
3. A background in skilled trades such as finish carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, wood framing, or general maintenance is preferred.
4. Possession or ability to acquire an OSHA30 safety certification and CPR certification within 90 days of employment start.
5. Proven technical ability to operate hand and small power tools safely and responsibly, including pneumatic drivers and cutting tools safely and responsibly.
6. Ability to analyze civil and architectural drawings.
7. Possess reliable transportation to and from the site.
8. Willingness to work on various job sites, some of which may require travel.
9. Team player and reliable.
10. Knowledge of basic computer skills, including Microsoft applications.
11. Some fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

• Bending, kneeling, stretching, climbing stairs and ladders, squatting, and lifting to sixty (60) pounds.

NON-ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

• Running and lifting over sixty (60) pounds.
