ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Job Summary

As an Assistant Controller for Fischer Homes, you serve as a strategic partner for all accounting activities, compliance, and reporting. Additionally, the position requires deep accounting expertise and strong financial leadership capabilities, with the ability to provide insightful recommendations and influence key stakeholders through expert financial analysis and strategic guidance independently. The most rewarding part of this role is coaching and developing a team of strong accountants to provide accurate reporting to the organization.

These skills will be used to: 

• Provide strong GAAP expertise and consulting across the business, while ensuring all operations and reports are managed in accordance with GAAP and Company standards


• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations


• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, annual audit and tax requirements.


• Perform variance analysis, cost analysis, and other financial analyses to identify trends and opportunities


• Identify and assess risks & opportunities, engaging leaders to mitigate key risks


• Develop and implement digital solutions and technologies that accelerate the close and provide detailed financial analysis of actuals to improve business insights


• Provide clear and accurate financial information to management, stakeholders, and other relevant parties

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA/CMA preferred


• 5+ years of experience in accounting roles


• Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP), financial statements and general ledger management


• Experience in financial controls and financial reporting for external investors


• Experience and background with accounting ERP’s and other related technologies


• Job Costing and Project Accounting Experience, especially in the construction industry
