Senior Accountant / Controller
Staten Island, NY - 4 days/week in office
$100k - $200k

A growing healthcare company is seeking a Senior Accountant or Controller to work closely with the Director of Finance across accounting, reporting, and financial management. The role requires strong accounting skills, a hands-on approach, and the ability to strengthen processes as the business expands. Title and scope will reflect experience.

Responsibilities

  Manage and oversee accounting activities, ensuring accurate records and timely completion of monthly close.

  
  


• 
  

  Prepare and review monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and internal reports.

  
  


• 
  

  Perform or oversee reconciliations, journal entries, and account maintenance, identifying and resolving accounting issues.

  
  


• 
  

  Support accounting setup and cleanup, improving how accounts are organized, maintained, and reviewed.

  
  


• 
  

  Oversee AP processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and appropriate controls.

  
  


• 
  

  Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and financial analysis.

  
  


• 
  

  Develop and improve accounting procedures, systems, and internal controls.

  
  


• 
  

  Work closely with the Director of Finance on reporting, analytics, and accounting projects.

  
  

Requirements

• 
  

  Strong accounting background with Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar experience.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with financial statement preparation, month-end close, reconciliations, and resolving accounting issues.

  
  


• 
  

  CPA and public accounting background preferred, but not required.

  
  


• 
  

  Healthcare experience preferred.

  
  


• 
  

  Adaptable and resourceful, able to manage shifting priorities and improve processes in a rapidly growing business.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong work ethic, sound judgment, and ownership, with the willingness to work through details and follow issues through to resolution.
