Job Description - Assistant Director, CURE GRANT

The Assistant Director (LCSW) provides behavioral health counseling, psychosocial assessment, and care coordination for individuals diagnosed with or at risk for Hepatitis C. The position supports testing, linkage to care, treatment adherence, and wraparound services by collaborating with clinical, outreach, and community partners to reduce barriers to care. This role also provides clinical supervision toward licensure and consultation to designated staff.

Essential Functions (Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities):

  • Provide behavioral health counseling, psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, and case management for clients diagnosed with or at risk for Hepatitis C and co-occurring conditions.
  • Support client engagement, testing, referral follow-up, linkage to care, and treatment adherence activities; identify barriers and connect clients to appropriate wraparound resources.
  • Collaborate with project leadership, medical providers, outreach teams, and community partners to integrate behavioral health, harm reduction, and infectious disease services.
  • Contribute to workflow development, documentation standards, quality improvement activities, and program strategies that strengthen access, continuity of care, and service delivery.
  • Provide clinical supervision toward licensure and professional consultation to case managers, peer recovery staff, and other designated team members, as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Strong clinical assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Hepatitis C, HIV, substance use disorders, co-occurring behavioral health conditions, and care coordination principles.
  • Knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and client-centered engagement strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound professional judgment in dynamic community-based and clinical settings.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records, Microsoft Office, and program data systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience building community partnerships and coordinating services across medical, behavioral health, and social service systems.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement, workflow development, and program implementation in grant-funded, academic, or public health settings.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including people who inject drugs, individuals experiencing homelessness, and justice-involved populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to support interdisciplinary teams and provide consultation or supervision in integrated care environments.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited program required.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible clinical social work, counseling, case management, or care coordination experience in healthcare, behavioral health, public health, or community-based settings required.

  Education and Experience Preferred:

  •   Experience providing supervision toward professional licensure preferred.
  •   Experience in infectious disease, harm reduction, substance use treatment, or integrated care programs preferred.

Licensure, Certification or Registration Required:

  • Current Tennessee Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in good standing required. Approval or eligibility to provide clinical supervision in Tennessee required.
