The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Utilities, the Assistant Director of Electric Utility will:

• Provide leadership in planning, directing, and organizing daily operations of the electric utility division.

• Oversee personnel, operations, customer service, facilities, capital improvements, maintenance, and engineering functions.

• Support implementation of strategic initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

• Manage division budgets and assist with annual operating and capital budget preparation.

• Represent the department before City Council, advisory boards, and community stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and deliver exceptional customer service to residents and businesses.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.

• 7–9 years of utility operations experience, including prior supervisory/management experience.

• Experience in electrical utility operations strongly preferred.

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.

• Valid driver’s license required.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $106,506 – $164,019 (midpoint $135,263)

• Residency in Columbia, Missouri, is preferred.
