THE ORGANIZATION
A private nonprofit organization founded in 1973, Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) is a large agency that is part of the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) nationwide network. Founded as a result of the federal Older Americans Act, the AAAs are mandated to “facilitate the area-wide development and implementation of a comprehensive, coordinated system for providing long-term care in home and community-based settings, in a manner responsive to the needs and preferences of older individuals and their family caregivers.” PCA carries out this mission through advocacy, stewardship of public funding, planning, development and administration of programs, and service coordination.
The mission of PCA is to improve the quality of life for older Philadelphians and those with disabilities and assist them in achieving the greatest possible levels of health, independence, and productivity.

Description of Role:
Under the supervision of the Director of Community Engagement, is responsible for overseeing the management and administration of PCA's Health Promotion, Nutrition, and other special programs. This responsibility includes developing key contacts in the health and nutrition community and providing leadership in planning and developing these programs and services within the PCA network of agencies. This position is also responsible for the oversight of the Meal Distribution Center (MDC) and direct supervision of the MDC Manager.

Required Education and Experience:
Job Responsibilities:
a. Plan and direct the development and implementation of health promotion, food and nutrition and other special community programs.
b. Supervise Health Promotion Consultants, Nutrition staff, MDC Manager and other related program staff.
c. Plan and coordinate health promotion and nutrition initiatives through collaborative ventures with other community health providers, hospitals, health organizations and professional schools.
d. Develop resources for meeting the health promotion, nutrition and other program needs of older persons by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with appropriate public and private service-providing agencies, community groups and the aging network.
e. Work with PCA and outside agencies/institutions in the development of proposals and in the coordination, implementation of health promotion, nutrition, and other special services for all PCA client populations.
f. Administer and oversee budget preparation, contract development and monitoring of subcontracted nutrition, health promotion and other services.
g. Oversee and manage the process for selecting and contracting with service providers, including a Request for Proposal (RFP) process, as required.
h. Oversee and manage the process for distribution of Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program Produce Vouchers (SFMNP).
i. Analyze anticipated impact of new Federal and/or State policies and procedures on operational programs.
j. Identify new areas for research and participate in research related to nutrition, health promotion and special services programming.
k. Represent PCA on planning committees on a state and local level.
l. Convene, maintain and meet with PCA’s Health Promotion Advisory Committee.
m. Contribute to upholding a strong and supportive team culture.
n. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
