Oaknoll Retirement Residence is seeking a candidate with strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills to join our Dining Service team as Assistant Director of Dining Services! The Assistant Director of Dining Services does more than just helping the management of our dining venues and staff; they help to build strong team cohesion among staff and enable our residents to be confident and delighted in the quality of services we provide across all aspects of dining. Oaknoll is hiring a full-time Assistant Director of Dining Services. As Assistant Director of Dining Services, you will need to be capable of working independently, with integrity and flexibility to effectively work with our residents, our staff, and a variety of outside vendors. Assisting and providing supervision across all aspects of dining operations, you will need a strong understanding of not only federal, state, and local sanitation and food safety standards, but also of clerical aspects, such as budgeting and managing inventory, and of service aspects, such as maintaining food quality, providing tray service, managing a dining rooms atmosphere, and planning and executing catering, special events, and holiday meals.

You will be responsible for investigating and addressing concerns related to food quality, service provided, and personnel issues. You will also be responsible for coordinating staff schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage, and stepping in to assist and cover any of the roles of our dining team as needed, and working with the dining management team to ensure proper orientation, on-going training, support, and encouragement for dining employees. As part of your duties, you will also be participating in resident care conferences under the direction of a Registered Dietician, and in leadership collaborations such as the Leadership and Transition teams.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent degree.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a food service management position, with preference given to experience in a senior living or healthcare setting.
  • Candidates must possess strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, and be able to work with a varied team with maturity and stability in unusual or critical situations, always treating people with courtesy and respect.
  • Candidates must have their ServSafe certification, or be willing to get the certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Candidates must have their Certified Dietary Manager certification, or the ability to complete the certification within 18 months of hire.
