Assistant Director of High School Student Life

The Assistant Director of High School Student Life ensures the seamless operational execution and coaching of SEED Miami’s 24-hour High School Student Life program. They work closely with the Director of High School Student Life and academic teams to guarantee that all programs operate smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with SEED’s mission, core values, and college-preparatory model. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design, manage, and maintain the 24-hour student schedule for high school, ensuring the integration of academic classes, Sparks, athletics, tutoring, HALLS lessons, DEAR, hygiene routines, dormitory responsibilities, and enrichment activities.
• Oversee daily execution of all High School Student Life programming, including attendance tracking, activity setup, transitions, and supervision schedules.
• Lead the logistical planning for major High School Student Life events, including Presentations of Learning (POLs), and incentive-based field trips.
• Coordinate Student Life staff schedules to ensure coverage for all residential and enrichment activities.
• Create and maintain supervision duty rosters for meals, activities, residential life periods, and extracurricular events.
• Support the Student Life team in implementing daily routines, crisis management protocols, safety procedures, and emergency responses.
• Ensure proper logistical support for staff-led activities, including supply procurement, transportation coordination, field trip paperwork, and risk management planning.
• Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of Student Life programming, including:
  • Sparks extracurricular activities
  • Intramural and athletic programs
  • Student leadership and voice initiatives (e.g., Student Government)
  • Community service activities
  • HALLS curriculum development and facilitation
  • College exposure programming
  • Presentations of Learning (POLs)
  • Administration of network surveys (DAPS, YAPS, Engagement Surveys)
• Manage inventory and procurement of supplies, uniforms, program materials, and equipment necessary for Student Life activities.
• Partner with the Director of High Student Student Life and Dean of Culture to ensure that the daily schedule supports a positive, safe, and orderly school environment.
• Support the execution of programs that promote positive peer culture, restorative practices, and leadership development.
• Maintain a visible presence across campus to monitor program implementation and build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Guide Student Life staff in applying developmental frameworks such as the Search Institute’s Developmental Assets, Developmental Relationships, and indicators of thriving adolescents.
• Lead the inventory and cultivation of student interests ("sparks") to develop extracurricular programs that support identity exploration and holistic development.
• Collaborate with the Programmatic Leadership Team (PLT) to develop and implement programming that integrates social-emotional learning, leadership development, academic achievement, and strong school culture.
• Attend area leadership meetings and all required professional development, including SEED Summit participation.
• Communicate regularly with school leadership, staff, and families about program logistics, schedules, and upcoming events.
• Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, training, assessment, and retention of high-quality Student Life staff aligned with SEED’s mission and values.
• Conduct regular formal and informal observations of Student Life staff during Sparks, HALLS, house activities, meals, and other program components; provide timely, actionable feedback using the school’s observation and evaluation platform.
• Complete annual summative evaluations for all assigned Student Life staff.
• Facilitate individual coaching conversations, goal-setting sessions, and professional development plans focused on building staff instructional and leadership capacities.
• Maintain exemplary professional behavior, high ethical standards, and strong stewardship of SEED’s mission.
• Maintain an active commitment to personal professional growth through research, reflection, and participation in relevant professional learning communities.
• Support crisis intervention and student discipline efforts when needed, emphasizing restorative practices and student-centered support.
• Ensure implementation of school-wide platforms with fidelity. 
• Build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and staff through high visibility and frequent engagement.
• Routinely collect and analyze student engagement, social skills development, and extracurricular participation data.
• Use data findings to refine Student Life initiatives, target supports, and drive continuous improvement of staff and program performance.
• Establish and monitor long- and short-term goals for the Student Life program aligned with schoolwide priorities and accountability systems.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of School or Director of Student Life 9-12 to advance the mission of SEED Miami.

• Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in related fields, with training and/or experience in child and adolescent development and adult learning. (preferred)
• Minimum of two years of experience as leader of an educational community, including but not limited to a residential, boarding school or overnight camping program.  
• Minimum of two years demonstrated success in working with urban adolescents and youth in an urban/diverse educational setting.
• Minimum of two years of management and supervisory experience leading a diverse staff of a minimum of 15 staff. 
• This role works hours are surrounding the hours of 3 pm - 12 am, Sunday - Thursday.
