Job Description - Assistant Director of Medical Site


Job Summary:

The Medical Site Assistant Director (AD) is a member of the senior leadership team (SLT). They support the mission and values of Maple City Health Care Center (MCHCC) by overseeing clinical site operations and supervising clinical and operational staff within their areas of administration.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervisory responsibilities vary by site* and may include: Medical Assistant Coordinator, Nurse Coordinator, Operations Assistant, Document Management, Interpreter Lead, Medications/Vaccine Lead, Group Facilitator, Dieticians, and the administrative supervision of the site’s medical and/or behavioral health providers including medical provider leads, physicians, and obstetrical providers. 


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fosters a culture of high trust, collaboration, hospitality, mission-focus, continuous improvement, curiosity and learning at their site, and organizationally. Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, patients, and community.  
  • Collaborates with site leads and site staff to ensure safe, quality patient care is provided.  
  • Works closely with the other Medical Site ADs, the Patient Access AD, AD of Behavioral Health, the Director of Operations and others to ensure smooth and efficient site operations.  
  • Communicates clearly and timely to the staff at their site, acting as a bridge from the Senior Leadership Team to staff and other organization-wide leaders.  
  • Collaborates closely with other organizational leaders to ensure that patients are experiencing one MCHCC, regardless of point of entry or site of clinical care. 
  • Addresses and manages site-wide needs and projects to help ensure consistent and smooth communication among staff and leaders at the organization regarding their site 
  • Hires, supervises, reviews staff performance and ends employment for all supervisees in collaboration with Human Resources. 
  • Facilitates regular meetings with clinical staff to address issues relating to clinical care coordination. 
  • Oversees scheduling of clinical staff to ensure adequate coverage is available to meet clinic needs. 
  • Oversees provider and resource scheduling in the electronic medical record (ex: set up new provider schedule, add provider blocks). 
  • Oversees ordering of pharmaceuticals, supplies, equipment, and vaccines for site clinical operations. 
  • Addresses risk incident reports, including patient and staff grievances, coordinating dismissal of patients from practice when indicated.   
  • Refers matters relating to front office, clinical decision making, IT, and facility to appropriate supervisors (this position does not include primary responsibility of these areas). 
  • Addresses site clinical care team needs within the policies and budget adopted by the board. 
  • Other duties that support our shared work, as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR  
  • Bilingual: Spanish/English preferred

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in the area of nursing, public health, or health administration.  
  • Clinical training strongly preferred, particularly RN, job will be adjusted accordingly to ensure proper clinical oversight.  
  • Motivational Interviewing training preferred; training supported  
  • Trauma Informed Care training preferred; training supported  
  • Leadership or supervisory experience required; strong experience may override this requirement  

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds 
  • Ability to perform prolonged periods of time in front of a computer
