Assistant Director of Nursing
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in leading and managing the nursing department within our skilled nursing facility. The ADON plays a key role in ensuring high-quality clinical care, regulatory compliance, and staff development while fostering a collaborative and resident-centered environment.
Key responsibilities:
Assist the Director of Nursing in the overall management of nursing services
Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and support to nursing staff
Oversee day-to-day clinical operations, including staffing and workflow
Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives
Monitor clinical outcomes such as wounds, falls, infections, and rehospitalizations
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including CMS standards
Support staff education, training, and competency validation
Assist with scheduling, staffing, and performance evaluations
Serve as a clinical resource and assist with complex resident care needs
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote optimal resident outcomes
Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
Minimum qualifications:
Current RN license in the state of employment.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Minimum of 2–3 years of nursing experience in skilled nursing or long-term care
Prior leadership or charge nurse experience preferred
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and clinical best practices
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to lead, coach, and motivate nursing staff
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
Physical/other requirements:
Ability to lift/move residents and stand for extended periods.
Pass background check, drug screen, and TB/health screening per facility policy.
