Job Description - Assistant Director of Nursing


Position – ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF NURSING (DON) 

Location: Fair Oaks Health Care Center– Crystal Lake, IL (on-site position) 

Status: Full-Time 

Schedule: Days  (Monday - Friday) with rotating weekends on call

Job Summary: 

The Assistant Director of Nursing supports the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, and directing daily nursing operations.  Mentor, coach, and support our nursing staff to provide compassionate, resident centered care.  Ensure quality standards, regulatory compliance and best practices are consistently met.  Participate in care planning, resident assessments, and quality improvement initiatives.  Foster a positive culture where teamwork and accountability thrive.

 


Compensation:    Salary of $90,000 to $96,000

Key Responsibilities:



  •  Supervisory:  Manages training, development and performance of assigned staff to retain a motivated professional workforce for Fair Oaks Care Center.

  • Ability to develop and facilitate growth within the Nursing Department, relate professionally and positively to facility and departmental staff and to work cooperatively with others at all levels. Address performance evaluations and discipline as necessary.

  • Performs assessment, develop and implement appropriate plan of care based on assessment and diagnosis tailored to meet each individual's needs with the interdisciplinary team.  Evaluate the plan of care and make necessary changes as needed.  Monitor the care delivered by staff.  

  • Delegate and collaborate in providing resident care according to licensure and skill level.  Follow up to ensure success.

  • Document according to current standards and established polices.

  • Ability to work independently with organizational skills, to prioritize tasks and to exercise judgement consistent with core values.

  • Ability to model effective communication between resident, family, staff and community.

  • Must be able to identify potentially unsafe situations and respond appropriately.

  • Responsible to know, implement and assure compliance with State, Federal or County regulations and BHS policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required



  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse, which must be in good standing. 

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills that promote effective communication with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.

  • CPR certified Two years of RN Supervisor experience with at least 1 year in long term care experience. Must be literate and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills Qualifications

  • Participates in professional organizations.

  • Must be able to plan, implement, evaluate, delegate, and collaborate effectively.

  • Must have critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities.
