The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) in a nursing home setting plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to residents while supporting the overall management of nursing operations. This position requires a Registered Nurse (RN) with strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and a commitment to resident-centered care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff, including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of nursing personnel.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to establish and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment that promotes teamwork, professional growth, and accountability.
  • Assess resident needs and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of care plans to ensure resident needs are met effectively.
  • Oversee medication management, treatment protocols, and documentation practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between residents, families, and healthcare providers to address concerns, provide education, and facilitate communication.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies during surveys and inspections, addressing deficiencies and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Promote infection control practices and maintain a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Provide ongoing education and training to nursing staff on relevant clinical topics, best practices, and regulatory updates.
  • Facilitate staff development programs to enhance skills and competencies in areas such as wound care, dementia care, and palliative care.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for staff members, promoting professional growth and advancement opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, therapists, social workers, and dietary staff, to coordinate resident care and address issues promptly.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and care plan reviews to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with residents and families, addressing concerns and facilitating family involvement in care decisions.

Requirements:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in NJ..
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility, with supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • IPC training and/or a certification highly preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, regulations, and best practices in long-term care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Please note- The annual base salary range is $90k to $110k. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
