Assistant Director of Stewardship & Events

for the College of Communication & Information (CCI) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Advancement/Senior Director Advancement, the Assistant Director of Stewardship & Events is responsible for leading college-wide stewardship initiatives and event planning.
The Assistant Director will play a primary role in how supporters of the college are engaged and recognized, while also serving as a liaison between the college and university-wide stewardship and donor experience teams. The ideal candidate will function well as part of a team, be self-motivated to manage job responsibilities, and exercise sound judgement with the ability to manage and respond to multiple tasks and complex situations. This position is one of responsibility and trust, with high standards of integrity and professionalism.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Stewardship:

Serve as the primary contact for CCI stewardship activities, such as endowment reports, donor engagement and acknowledgement initiatives, and use of fund reports. Prepare and implement individualized stewardship plans for high level donors, as well as create and manage specialized stewardship initiatives.
Event Planning & Management:

Provide planning and management support for events on behalf of the CCI, including alumni tailgates, School and College board meetings, special receptions, luncheon meetings, etc. Prepare briefing materials and coordinate events for the Dean and CCI Board of Visitors.
Required Education and Experience
The candidate who fills the Assistant Director of Stewardship & Events position is required to have:
3 or more years of experience in alumni affairs, donor relations, event coordination or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Exceptionally strong oral and written communications skills, including editing and writing experience across long- and short-form pieces.
Strong project management skills; ability to manage simultaneous projects and deadlines or varying complexity while delivering excellence on time.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals within the College and University as well as individuals in public agencies and organizations.
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize.
Experience with industry-standard office management tools including Microsoft Office suite, Wordpress, etc.
A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances.In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.
Note - Candidates holding a graduate degree must have at least 1 year of experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have:
Expertise in multiple specialty communications areas (design, writing, strategy, etc.).
Experience in alumni affairs, donor relations, or event coordination at an institution of higher education, government agency, or company.
