Job Description - Assistant Director, Student Chapters

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, STUDENT CHAPTERS

THE FEDERALIST SOCIETY

The Federalist Society, a DC-based non-profit organization dedicated to informing the legal and public policy debate on a national level, seeks an Assistant Director to support the student chapters of the Society at law schools around the country. The role involves interacting directly with student chapters, managing internal operational workflows, and ensuring smooth coordination of calendars, communications, and student transitions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Manage and maintain calendars, including student-related events and grant timelines

  • Support student transitions by coordinating election results, communications, and follow-up

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Student Leadership Conference registrations

  • Oversee grant calendars to ensure deadlines and milestones are tracked and met

  • Coordinate shipping needs, including mailing boxes and commendations, in collaboration with office personnel

  • Provide direct support to students while building and maintaining positive relationships

  • Manage and monitor Groups.io communications to ensure timely and effective engagement

  • Organize students into regional categories to support programming and outreach efforts

  • Assist with general administrative and operational tasks as needed

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

  • Experience working with students

  • Comfort managing multiple calendars, systems, and communication platforms

  • Attention to detail and ability to coordinate logistics effectively

  • Collaborative mindset

WHO WE ARE:

  • Founded in 1982, the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies is a group of conservatives and libertarians dedicated to reforming the current legal order. We are committed to the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be.

  • By providing a forum for legal experts of opposing views to interact with members of the legal profession, the judiciary, law students, academics, and the architects of public policy, the Society has redefined the terms of legal debate.

  • The Society is a membership organization that includes thousands of law students, legal professionals, and legal academics throughout the country.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK:

We are located in the heart of the District of Columbia, three blocks from the White House and across the street from the Farragut West Metro Station.

Our office observes a hybrid schedule, with required in-office work on Tuesdays-Thursdays and remote work opportunities on Mondays and Fridays.

This position reports directly to the Vice President, Student Chapters.
