Assistant Equipment Mechanic at Private Golf Club, Sanibel, FL up to $24/hr.

The Sanctuary Golf Club, a prestigious, Member-owned private golf club located in Sanibel Island, FL is hiring for full time, year-round Assistant Mechanic in our Green and Grounds Department.

We are looking for an experienced and professional individual who will contribute to all golf course maintenance activities by assisting the Club's Equipment Manager in the maintenance and repair all golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and small engines. This position ensures that equipment is properly maintained and operates safely and efficiently to support the overall maintenance of the golf course. 

COMPENSATION: Up to $24.00/hr. based on skill and experience.

SCHEDULE: Full time, 40 hrs./week, operational hours begin at 6:30 a.m. and include shortened, rotating weekends. Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on departmental needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Lubricates and services all course maintenance equipment.
• Assists in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical issues.
• Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies.
• Repairs and adjusts equipment; inspects, changes and repairs tires.
• Assists in maintaining repair records on all equipment.
• Performs general overhaul and other preventive maintenance on all equipment.
• Maintains blades of reel mowers; adjusts cutting units on mowing equipment.
• Performs emergency repair work in the field.
• Under the direction of Equipment Manager, performs body and fender work, fabrication, welding, troubleshooting and repairs to hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Communicates and reports any needs or problems relating to course equipment.
• Attends staff meetings as required.
• May assist in training the staff in the proper care and upkeep of the golf course equipment.
• May be called upon to operate or train to operate various types of maintenance equipment.
• When servicing of equipment is complete, will assist on maintenance crew and may operate mowing equipment.
• Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Equipment Manager or Golf Course Superintendent.
• Abides by all safety policies while performing work.
• Maintains a clean work area.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Graduate of a vocational technical school or post-secondary training in small engine repair or mechanics, preferred
• One to two years of experience as a golf course equipment mechanic is preferred.
• Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds maintenance work.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Ability to operate golf course equipment such as hand mowers, triplex and light weight fairway mowing is preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
• Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
• Frequent standing, lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
• Experience in high-end club environment a plus; however no club experience is necessary.
