Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership:

  • Work with leadership and management to assist in carrying out responsibilities on personnel matters. 

Participation:

  • Accountable for recruiting and enrolling eligible youth into the program
  • Accountable for meeting participation goals and objectives
  • Monitor grant participation goals and objectives

Case Management and Programming:

  • Accountable for acting as a liaison between target schools, parents, organization staff, and program staff
  • Accountable for monitoring that quality services and activities that are provided by TS Advisors meet the needs of enrolled members.
  • Accountable for tracking that TS Advisors provide holistic and comprehensive case management services to members at assigned site(s) including but not limited to intake, assessment, goal setting, service planning, progress, monitoring, follow-up services, advocacy, documentation, and referral services

School and ISD Partnerships:

  • Assist with creating and maintaining positive relationships with school personnel in a professional and courteous manner; be respectful of the shared space

Program Compliance:

  • Accountable for conducting program file audits
  • Accountable for grant and program compliance 

Fiscal Management:

  • Assist with budget oversight and fiscal management. 

Facility & Child Safety:

  • Accountable for adherence to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned work location(s)
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect members, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities. Abide by facility maintenance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within required timeline
  • Maintain discipline, de-escalate conflict between members and/or others 
  • Obtain and renew CPR and First Aid certification by deadline

Administrative Compliance:

  • Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time. 
  • Collect and manage required data and internal and external reporting. Ensure accuracy of data and reporting. Ensure the effective completion of all assessment and measurement activities of programs  
  • Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes and controls
  • Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry
  • Accountable for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively

Relationships:

  • Be a positive role model 
  • Maintain emotional control and make good decisions under pressure
  • Represent the Boys & Girls Club in a positive manner

Attendance:

  • Regular attendance is required; arrive on time; punctuality is required

Requirements

General Function and Description:

The Assistant Talent Search Director is responsible for leadership, member participation, case management and programming, school and ISD partnerships, program compliance, fiscal management, safety and administrative compliance. The Talent Search program identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to and complete their postsecondary education. The goal of Talent Search is to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, sociology, or related field
  • Management, fiscal responsibility, and relevant work experience

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

  • Ability to work regular program hours with some evenings, nights and weekends  
  • Ability to attract, train and retain qualified personnel
  • Ability to establish rapport and build relationships 
  • Ability to identify, create and offer ongoing support to employees through training, encouragement, and reinforcement in order to breed success and support a positive growth culture through effective leadership skills  
  • Ability to plan, lead and shape change and growth at the program level resulting in tangible progress towards goals   
  • Effective time management, organizational and planning skills, able to multitask, set priorities and accomplish goals  
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail   
  • Knowledge of technology and software such as tablets, social media, cloud-based tools, virtual meeting tools
  • Strong working knowledge of secondary core course curriculum  
  • Knowledge of college preparatory activities and program management activities
  • Knowledge of academic, economic, social and cultural needs of disadvantaged youth including barriers encountered by program participants
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification  
  • Must be able to pass any and all required background screens and drug screens at any time
  • Must have satisfactory driving record, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree 
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and disseminate data related to the program and staff evaluation   
  • Advanced ability to set and meet goals and to supervise staff directly and indirectly, with an emphasis in performance based management and tactics such as employee coaching and guidance and performance reviews.  
  • Bilingual 
  • Case management experience  
  • CPR/First Aid certified  
  • Experience or knowledge of Boys & Girls Club movement (national and/or local)  
  • Experience with TRiO programs or similar programs
