Assistant Farm Manager, Casey Farm

Historic New England seeks a full-time Assistant Farm Manager to perform a combination of agricultural and landscape maintenance projects and livestock management associated with the running of Casey Farm located in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supervises farm hands in a variety of farm related tasks, including but not limited to harvesting, transplanting, and weeding of crops as well as preparing and cleaning fields. 


• Assists farm manager, as needed in greenhouse seeding, transplanting, field work, moving of materials, equipment maintenance/repair, supervising Groundskeeper, and animal care.
  


• Assists in supervising Work Shares and volunteers in above tasks.


• Assists in the selling and donating of produce.


• Provides support for public programs and visitation. This position regularly interacts with the public.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of skilled credentials to include three (3) years of related employment experience


• Experience with operation and maintenance of power tools, mowing equipment, and farm equipment including tractors.


• Mechanical aptitude


• Strong communication skills


• Valid driver’s license and means of transportation


• Strong belief in, and demonstrated commitment to, Historic New England’s mission and values

• New England residency required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing a field crew


• Experience managing volunteers
