Position Summary
The Assistant Field Supervisor & Estimator supports the daily operations of the Marine Construction Service Department by assisting with field supervision, customer service, estimating, scheduling, and quality control. This position serves as a liaison between customers, office staff, and field technicians to ensure repair and maintenance projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Estimating & Sales
- Conduct on-site inspections of docks, seawalls, boat lifts, pilings, and other marine structures.
- Prepare accurate repair and maintenance estimates.
- Develop proposals and present repair recommendations to customers.
- Identify opportunities for preventative maintenance agreements and additional services.
- Follow up on outstanding estimates and maintain strong customer relationships.
Field Supervision
- Assist the Field Manager with scheduling and coordinating field crews.
- Monitor project progress to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
- Perform job site visits for quality assurance and customer communication.
- Resolve field issues and communicate solutions to customers and management.
- Ensure crews have the necessary equipment, materials, and documentation.
Customer Service
- Serve as a primary point of contact for service customers.
- Provide timely updates regarding project schedules and repairs.
- Address customer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Build long-term customer relationships through exceptional service.
Operations
- Assist with daily scheduling of service technicians.
- Coordinate material orders and equipment requirements.
- Maintain accurate job notes, inspection reports, and project documentation.
- Support emergency service calls and storm response operations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and company policies.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in marine construction, dock and seawall construction, boat lift service, or a related trade.
- Ability to estimate repair projects accurately.
- Strong knowledge of boat lifts, docks, seawalls, pilings, decking systems, and marine electrical systems.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to read plans and construction drawings.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
