Portsmouth Sheriff's Office is currently seeking a motivated and dedicated Assistant Food Service Director

Salary $51,000k

Rotating Shift, some weekends required 

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Food Service Director to support the daily operations of the food services department in a correctional facility. This role involves helping manage food production, supervising staff and inmate workers, ensuring sanitation and safety, and assisting with inventory and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Food Service Director in managing food preparation and service activities.


• Supervise staff and inmate kitchen workers.


• Assist with ordering, receiving, and storing food items.


• Monitor kitchen operations for cleanliness, efficiency, and safety.


• Maintain compliance with food safety, correctional, and contract standards.


• Help track food costs, budgets, and inventory records.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.


• ServSafe certification (or willing to obtain).


• 3+ years of food service experience (institutional/correctional preferred).


• 1+ year of supervisory or lead experience.


• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.


• Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.


• Must be eligible for correctional facility security clearance.
