Job Description - Assistant General Manager


Job Title: Assistant General Manager, Banquets – Bazaar Meat | Las Vegas

José Andrés Group and the Bazaar Meat team are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and service-driven Assistant General Manager, Banquets to lead the coordination and execution of extraordinary events and banquet operations. This key leadership role will serve as the primary liaison between our team and the hotel’s banquet departments, ensuring flawless collaboration, premium guest experiences, and world-class execution in line with JAG’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all banquet operations in collaboration with hotel partners, ensuring events are executed to JAG’s standards of excellence.
  • Serve as the senior liaison between the Bazaar Meat team and the hotel’s banquet/event staff to ensure clarity in all event-related communications.
  • Uphold and model JAG culture, values, and service philosophy across all touchpoints of banquet operations.
  • Oversee and ensure the successful planning, staffing, setup, execution, and breakdown of all banquet events.
  • Partner with the culinary and beverage teams to ensure service excellence and menu delivery that exceeds guest expectations.
  • Represent JAG at BEO meetings and operational walk-throughs to align details, anticipate needs, and ensure flawless execution.
  • Manage banquet financials including labor, food and beverage costs, inventory control, and invoice processing.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and lead banquet team members in accordance with company values and service standards.
  • Proactively address and resolve any guest or operational issues with professionalism and urgency.
  • Drive post-event analysis and improvement strategies to continuously elevate the guest and team experience.
  • Collaborate with hotel departments and JAG leadership on long-term planning, staffing strategies, and innovation.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in banquet or events management, preferably within an upscale or luxury hotel environment.
  • Proven ability to lead high-volume, high-touch events with attention to detail and guest satisfaction.
  • In-depth knowledge of hotel banquet operations, including BEO process, event timelines, and service protocol.
  • Strong leadership and people development skills; able to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Financial acumen including experience managing labor, food/beverage costs, and P&L.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of professionalism and composure in fast-paced, guest-facing environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Google Workspace and hotel systems a plus.
  • ServSafe and Alcohol Service Certifications (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and remain on feet for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work a flexible, event-driven schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
