Serving as the gateway to beautiful Blowing Rock, North Carolina as a luxury haven where adventure meets tranquility, Chetola blends refined hospitality with immersive outdoor experiences—from Orvis®-endorsed fly fishing to award-winning dining, spa indulgence, and family-friendly recreation. Under new ownership, we are embracing an exciting new chapter rooted in thoughtful renewal, authentic elegance, and exceptional guest service. Blowing Rock boasts many of the most luxurious residences in all of the Carolinas, with an affluent clientele in a year-round destination.

THE ROLE

Chetola Resort is seeking a hands-on, service-driven Assistant General Manager to support the day-to-day operations of Chetola Resort and to oversee special projects and enhancements. As the right hand to the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager will play a vital role in ensuring seamless experiences for guests, fostering a high-performance culture across departments, and helping to carry out our long-term vision.

This is a unique opportunity for a grounded, operationally savvy leader who thrives in dynamic environments, builds trusted relationships across teams, and is passionate about making a meaningful impact on people’s experience—both guests and team members alike.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations in partnership with the General Manager across Lodging, Food & Beverage, Spa, Recreation, Events, Housekeeping, and Maintenance
  • Act as Manager on Duty as needed, ensuring exceptional service and operational continuity
  • Proactively identify and resolve guest or operational issues in real time

Team Support & Development

  • Build strong relationships with department leaders and staff, offering hands-on support and guidance
  • Help recruit, onboard, and train team members in alignment with Chetola’s service and culture standards
  • Lead by example, promoting accountability, kindness, and clear communication

Guest Experience

  • Uphold the highest standards of guest service and ensure Chetola-aligned delivery across touchpoints
  • Step in as a gracious host during peak periods, events, and high-profile guest interactions

Project Execution

  • Manage special projects or process improvements in coordination with the GM and Proprietor
  • Monitor property performance metrics and contribute to reporting and analysis

Financial Performance

  • Collaborate with the General Manager to optimize resort profitability through accurate forecasting, budgeting, expense control, and revenue growth strategies
  • Review financial and operational performance trends, address variances, and implement action plans to achieve operational and financial goals while maintaining exceptional guest experiences

Requirements

ABOUT YOU

  • A warm, grounded, and service-oriented leader who thrives in people-first environments
  • Balance humility with confidence—comfortable jumping into the details and making sound decisions on the fly
  • Build trust through clear communication, follow-through, and calm under pressure
  • Love the pace and rhythm of a busy resort setting, and are energized by solving problems and helping people
  • Naturally collaborative, dependable, and attentive to the small details that shape a memorable guest experience

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive management experience in hospitality or resort operations, preferably with exposure to multiple departments
  • Previous experience in a hotel, resort, or club environment is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of operational procedures, guest service standards, and team leadership
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field preferred

WHY CHETOLA

  • One of the largest private employers in the county with a dynamic work setting and strong potential for career growth
  • Join a dedicated and growing team shaping the next era of a beloved mountain resort
  • Contribute meaningfully to a culture rooted in connection, craftsmanship, and care
  • Competitive salary and bonus opportunity
  • Comprehensive benefits offered including health, dental, vision, and supplemental benefits as well as PTO, and on-property perks
  • Collaborate directly with resort leadership and Proprietor
