Job Description: 

San Francisco University High School (UHS) is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate candidate who shares its core values: Inquiry, Care, Integrity, Agency, and Interconnection. Collegial and collaborative, the successful candidate will join a dynamic athletic department that believes that athletics is an integral and valuable component of our students’ overall educational experience. We believe that student-athletes benefit not only physically and emotionally by participating and competing in sports, and that one of our fundamental responsibilities is to help student-athletes develop critical skills (e.g., teamwork, resilience, leadership, tenacity, etc.) that promote success in the classroom, in college and in life. The ideal candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assist in all areas of team performance, including pre-season, post-season training, practice and competition. 
• Design and implement instructions for student-athletes in a specific area. 
• Assist with the academic progress of student-athletes and provide encouragement, support and referral assistance as appropriate. 
• Assist in the day to day operations, including but not limited to video breakdown, travel plans, equipment and budget management. 
• Assist with identification, evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes
• Implement and develop fundraising strategies to support the annual operating budget. 
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach. 
• Promote your program (on campus, in the community, outside the community – speeches to local organizations, player volunteer work, camps, etc.)
• Attain/Maintain CPR/AED certification 
• Assist with playoffs (if hosting) 
• 2-4 years of experience coaching basketball at the high school level (head coaching experience preferred). 
• Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills. 
• Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport. 

Requirements

Skills and Abilities: 

• Excellent organizational ability, high level of accuracy, attention to detail • Effective communication skills 
• Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and with minimal supervision. 
• Experience working with Microsoft Office Word Pro, Excel, Powerpoint, Google 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred 
• Coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level • 
• The successful candidate must demonstrate effective and excellent leadership, motivational, organizational and interpersonal skills.  

Salary:

Part-time; $25/hour
