Job Summary:
The Assistant HESS Manager assists the HESS Manager in overseeing the health, environment, safety, and sustainability programs at Celebration Key Cruise Destination. This role involves supporting the development and implementation of policies and initiatives related to health, environmental stewardship, safety, and sustainability. The Assistant HESS Manager will work to ensure compliance with all local and corporate regulations, enhance operational practices, and promote a culture of safety and sustainability across the destination.

The Carnival Grand Bahama Investments Limited (CGBIL), a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation & plc, seeks an Assistant HESS Manager.
The role will also play a critical role in the broader Carnival Corporation Global Ports and Destinations Development (GPDD) team. GPDD is responsible for the development and operations of our six existing Carnival-owned destinations in the Caribbean: Grand Turk (Turks and Caicos), Mahogany Bay (Roatan, Honduras), Puerta Maya (Cozumel, Mexico), Amber Cove (Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic), Half Moon Cay (Little San Salvador, The Bahamas), and Princess Cays (Eleuthera, The Bahamas). GPDD is also responsible for the development and operations of Celebration Key, expected to open in July 2025. The 6 existing destinations are expected to welcome more than 6 million visitors in 2024, with that number expected to grow significantly once Celebration Key is opened, and they include a variety of world-leading amenities such as: pristine beaches, pools, swim-up bars, water activities, food and beverage, retail, and cultural exhibits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant HESS Manager is responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Operation and Team Management
Assists with identifying and assessing health, occupational safety, and environmental risks to implement measures to mitigate them and prevent incidents.
Monitor the process and operation of potable water treating systems (including Seawater Reverse Osmosis Systems), wastewater treatment systems, irrigation systems (with reused and potable water), the deep injection well, and recreational water facilities (Water Amenities) by monitoring systematically their quality and performance standards as well as implementing immediate corrective measures if required.
Monitor and document the solid waste collection and processing system, including recycling and other waste management processes implemented in the facility.
Monitor and document the integrated pest management system.
Conduct routine checks and recommend training to ensure all HESS policies and procedures are being adhered to.
Receive, record, and channel employee concerns, suggestions, complaints, and other reports regarding sustainability, safety, health, environment, or quality.
Assist with scheduling, rotations and projects in the HESS Department.
Assign daily tasks to HESS Officers.
Assist with inspections and audits as required.
Compliance & Quality Control
Monitor all operational processes to ensure the company follows all legal and corporate regulations regarding sustainability, workplace safety, health and environment, and ethical standards.
Remain updated on professional knowledge by participating in continuous self-development.
Liaise with vendors and security firm on safety regulations, procedures, and policies.
Assist in the development and enforcement of health policies and procedures in line with local regulations and industry standards.
Reporting & Maintenance
Assist with the community service program.
Audit food and beverage processing, handling, and sales operations within the port to ensure compliance with established health standards.
Any other duties assigned by the HESS Manager.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Sustainability, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in health, environmental, safety, or sustainability roles, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Experience in a hospitality or resort environment is highly desirable.
ISPS Training.
CPO certification a plus. Must obtain certification within six months of employment.
Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations relevant to food service and retail.
Experience in a cruise or resort environment is highly desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS systems.
Fluency in conversational English.
