Job Description - Assistant Housekeeping Manager



The DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center  is seeking an experienced Assistant Housekeeping Manager to join our team.  This position is 100% on-site, no remote work. 


 
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport Convention Center is conveniently situated just south of Miami International Airport off the Dolphin Expressway adjacent to the Blue Lagoon Business District. The hotel features 334 guestrooms, onsite dining, fitness room, outdoor pool, business center, complimentary High-Speed Internet Access, 24,000 square feet of retail space, 20,000 Square feet of Hotel Meeting and Function Space and a Convention Center with 152,000 square feet of meeting, event and exhibit space.


This position will be an exempt position and will report to the Assistant General Manager.


The Assistant Houskeeping Manager is responsible for assisting in managing and overseeing the performance and appearance of the housekeeping staff.  Individual will be responsible of the housekeeping department when the Housekeeping Manager is not present.


Job Responsibilities:



  • Schedules the cleaning of the room carpets, upholstery, and draperies as needed, along with deep cleaning projects and window cleaning as necessary.

  • Schedules the cleaning for lobby area, public restrooms, hallways, entrances, and elevators.

  • Assist in the scheduling for deep cleaning of all meeting rooms on periodic basis including carpet shampooing, cleaning of wall and baseboards, cleaning of windows, etc.

  • Obtain all housekeeping reports and messages from the front desk and PBX departments.

  • Confirm all housekeeping staff members have arrived or find substitutes for absence employees.

  • Assist in preparing room assignment for the attendants; distribute room assignments and keys.

  • Check floors periodically, update the current room status, and identify opportunities for Houseperson service.

  • Assist in monthly linen inventory and discard damaged linen as directed.

  • Inventory and stock any room supplies and cleaning supplies

  • Orient and familiarize new personnel with hotel facilities and operating hours.

  • Inspection of guestrooms as required by hotel policy.

  • Clean and assist Room Attendants with guest rooms if required.

  • Provide supervision to support the housekeeping operations to ensure the highest level of guest services and accommodations.

  • Supervise housekeeping operations and staff, scheduling, timekeeping, attendance policy.

  • Ensure compliance of company policies in the department.

  • Work closely with the Front Desk and Engineering departments to identify unit or guest issues.

  • Work with Executive housekeeper to put plans in place to resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Perform housekeeping and cleaning role as required.

  • Attend regular department meetings to discuss issues and housekeeping projects.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


 


Qualifications/ Skills:



  • At least 4 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field: or a A 4-year college degree and at least I year of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and 2 or more years of related experience.

  • Supervisory experience required.

  • Must be proficient in Windows Word, Excel Preferred

  • Must have a valid driver's license from the applicable state.

  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.

  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
    Must routinely meet deadlines.

  • Must be able to multi task

  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc., from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.

  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.

  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions. 

  • Long hours sometimes required.

  • Work -Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  •  Ability to stand during entire shift.
