Job Description - Assistant Insurance Specialist

The Assistant Insurance Specialist  supports the administration, tracking, and coordination of insurance claims across the organization. This role works closely with internal project teams and external insurance carriers to ensure claims are reported, investigated, and documented appropriately . The Assistant Insurance Specialist plays a key role in maintaining accurate claim records to support in achieving successful risk transfer and other desirable claim outcomes. A successful Assistant Insurance Specialist is detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, providing day-to-day support to the Insurance Specialist and Senior Insurance Specialist in the ongoing management and monitoring of insurance claims..

Essential Functions:

  • Aids in responding to and tracking insurance claims for commercial general liability, worker’s compensation, builders risk, subcontractor default, personal, property, or casualty loss based on coverage, appraisal, and verifiable damage.
  • Supports claim settlements and investigations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Helps outline specific claims activity to be utilize in status updates reports for management.
  • May be responsible for special projects and presentations when areas of increased risk are identified by department leadership.
  • Participates in investigations and evaluates claims and suits through contact with Clune project teams, insureds, brokers, other insurance carriers and defense counsel.
  • Provides relevant claim information to aid in the claim settlement process.
  • Collaborates with the other members of the Risk Management department in reviewing outstanding claims and strategy of the handling of claims on a frequent and regular basis.
  • Completes regular training to remain current with trends in the industry and any applicable changes that the company needs to be aware of.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software including those relevant to handling insurance claims..
  • Self-motivated, independently able to solve problems and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle private, sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Flexible with handling and responding to matters that may occur in a time zone that is different than that of the office location where work is conducted.
  • Aptitude to multi-task, prioritize, and work well in a team environment

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of 1-3 years education and experience in preferred but not required.
  • 1+ years experience in Claims Administration preferred
