Job Description - Assistant Lead Operator

Position Summary:

The purpose of this summer seasonal position is to assist the Lead Operator in managing Marathon Junction concession stand, the train operation, and the Splash Pad in Marathon Park its areas, facilities and programs. This position will direct the operation and oversee public and private use of this area as well as supervise seasonal staff.  This work is performed under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator.

Hours will vary based on candidate availability, department needs, and weather.  

Examples of Work Performed:

The following duties are typical of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.

  • Assist the Lead Operator in supervising the seasonal staff: inspects all food service and train equipment, splash pad, equipment buildings and grounds; secures facilities after use; reports problems to Lead Operator, Recreation Coordinator, and Park Operations. 
  • Assist Lead Operator in assigning work at the Junction, and Splash Pad, including the train operation, outside seating areas, and splash pad grounds. 
  • Enforces safety standards, facility-use rules and regulations as required by licensing authorities and department policies.
  • Assists Lead Operator in providing information regarding facility use, set up, events, and staff requirements to the public; oversees public and rental use of the facility.
  • May collect and record attendance records and ticket fees, vendor snack bar products and collect snack bar receipts and other program receipts as needed.
  • Responds to inquiries and answers questions from the public and staff regarding park use and policies; provides information and referrals as needed, responds to emergencies, responds to and resolves complaints and concerns.
  • As needed, fills in at any position including, but not limited to, Lead Operator, Train Operator, Snack Bar Attendant, and/or Splash Pad Attendant. 

Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age.   

• At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets County standards.

Compensation:

Starting hourly rate is $14.50 year one, $14.75 year two, and $15.00 year three. This is a seasonal position and there are no benefits.
