Job Description - Assistant Maintenance Technician

A Carter Lumber Assistant Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping the facility clean, safe, and running smoothly by performing basic repairs and maintenance tasks. This role includes routine inspections of equipment to ensure everything is functioning properly. The technician will also assist the current maintenance technician with various tasks, gaining hands-on experience while supporting facility upkeep. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Requirements:

Some experience in maintenance or related work is helpful but not required
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Basic knowledge of machinery and electrical systems is a plus
Strong organization and communication skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
Friendly and cooperative personality
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance

Help keep the company’s buildings, equipment, and workspace in good condition
Assist with repairs and general upkeep, working alongside the current maintenance technician
Identify maintenance needs and suggest improvements

Equipment Maintenance

Perform routine maintenance on tools and machinery
Keep records of maintenance work done
Help keep spare parts stocked to avoid equipment downtime
Assist the current maintenance technician with troubleshooting and repairs as needed

Safety

Follow safety guidelines when using tools and equipment
Ensure safety features on machinery are working
Handle materials safely and report any issues
Work with the current maintenance technician to ensure a safe and well-maintained work environment
