Job Description - Assistant Manager

**Department:** Operations
**Reports To:** General Manager
**FLSA Status:** Non-Exempt
**Position Overview**
Primarily responsible for supporting store operations in an hourly capacity. Assists in the overall management of a Pick Up Stix restaurant. Acts as the Store Manager in the absence of the GM. Ensures that the store is functioning to Pick Up Stix standards.
**Job Duties and Responsibilities**
The following is a list of the job duties as they relate to Pick Up Stix four focus areas of performance. The ability to perform these duties is essential for this position. Other duties may be assigned by your manager as required.
**Teamwork**
* Assist the Store Manager in maintaining high standards of store operations, including functioning as the Store Manager in their absence
* Maintain positive and open communication with the FOH/BOH staff
* Assist in the maintenance of proper Company and government required documents on staff
* Assist in writing staff schedules
* Interview prospective employees
* Train employees
* Participate in performance evaluation process
* Reward employees
* Discipline employees
* Support operations by performing any other duty as assigned, to ensure the restaurant is producing to standards
**Standards**
* Complete daily administrative tasks (reports and banking)
* Estimate food and beverage costs, maintaining correct inventories (par levels)
* Assist in the management of all items on the Sales and Cost analysis.
* Assist in maintaining Health Department Standards, including employee hygiene, proper food handling, equipment cleanliness, food temperatures, proper storage and rotation of inventory
* Maintain all fire code requirements
* Know and understands preventative maintenance schedules for the store
**Sales**
* Address Guest complaints
* Resolve problems
**Quality**
* Know Company policy thoroughly, including Operations Manual, Employee Handbook, Managers Training Manual, Hourly Training Manuals, and other operations books
* Maintain the high standards of Pick Up Stix store operation
* Prepare menu items to order
* Consistently adhere to Pick Up Stix recipes and standards
* Inspect food and food preparation to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations
* Perform opening/closing duties as scheduled
**Supervisory Responsibilities**
Directly supervises 10-20 employees in the FOH and BOH. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.

The Assistant Manager must be able to perform each of the listed job duties satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
* One (1) year of related experience and/or training
Language Skills
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
* Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of Pick Up Stix
Mathematical Skills
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
* Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Reasoning Ability
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Computer Skills
* Knowledge of Internet software to navigate email
Other Qualifications
* Ability to train, develop and motivate all staff
